At Prepped 4 Learning, we offer specialized EMDR trainings and consultations designed to empower mental health professionals with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to support clients through trauma and life’s most challenging moments. Led by Dr. Judy Moench, a Registered Psychologist, EMDRIA-Approved Consultant, and dedicated educator, our programs reflect a deep commitment to trauma-informed, client-centred care.
Through a blend of interactive instruction, real-time practice, and expert guidance, our trainings create a supportive and engaging environment where clinicians can deepen their understanding of EMDR Therapy and its powerful healing potential. Dr. Judy Moench
EMDRIA-Approved Consultant and EMDR Trainer
Registered Psychologist, PhD (Educational Psychology)
Dr. Judy Moench is a Registered Psychologist in Edmonton, Alberta working in private practice with children, adolescents, and adults. She is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Alberta where she has worked with undergraduate and graduate students. Judy provides consultation to psychologists, social workers, psychiatrists, and organizations in dealing with traumatic events including the Department of National Defense, Alberta Health Services (Occupational Stress Injury Clinic, Addictions and Mental Health, University of Alberta Hospital); United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), Doctors without Borders (MSF); Fire and Police Services, as well as School Divisions.
In terms of educational experience, she holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Alberta. Over the years, she has participated in trauma trainings in Canada, the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. She hosts and facilitates trainings for psychologists, social workers, medical staff, and school staff locally, nationally, and internationally. Judy has helped to compile a manual for working with groups who have been involved in a recent traumatic event. The manual has been translated into many languages and is being used in different parts of the world. It is based on the work of Elan Shapiro. Judy is the Canadian trainer in these protocols. During the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, Judy participated in developing the STEP protocol, an online EMDR self-care protocol aimed to decrease stress and increase coping. She also coordinates the Disaster Response Network for the Psychologists Association of Alberta.
Judy works towards creating a safe environment for clients, those she consults, and trainees in an instructional setting in order to facilitate the exploration of issues and assist others in moving towards their goals.

Carolyn Barker
EMDRIA-Approved Consultant and EMDR Facilitator
Registered Clinical Social Worker; MSW (Social Work)
Carolyn Barker is a Registered Clinical Social Worker in Edmonton, Alberta, working in private practice with adults primarily using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy. She is a Sessional Instructor at the University of Calgary, Faculty of Social Work and Clinical Supervisor to individuals completing the Registered Clinical Social Work process. She is an approved EMDR consultant and provides consultation to social workers, psychologists, and certified counsellors seeking to improve their EMDR practice.
Carolyn holds a B.A. (psych), BSW, and MSW from the University of Calgary. She is the author of miyawata. Family Teachings on Turtle Island in Makokis, L, Bodor, R, Calhoun, A, and Tyler, S. (2020) ohpikinâwasowin/Growing a Child.
Carolyn is passionate about her work and seeks to establish a collaborative and compassionate relationship within which clients can explore personal struggles and create change.

Debbie Fillion
EMDRIA-Approved Consultant and EMDR Facilitator
Registered Psychologist, MC (Counselling Psychology)
Debbie Fillion is a Registered Psychologist dedicated applying her knowledge and experience when providing individual therapy for adults. In her private practice, she specializes in helping clients navigate through trauma, sexual abuse, anxiety, and other overwhelming life events. Debbie is certified in EMDR and integrates advanced training in this modality with other evidence-based approaches to tailor her therapy to each client's unique needs and goals.
Debbie’s counselling philosophy is rooted in client-centred principles, emphasizing respect, empathy, and authenticity. She believes in the inherent potential of every individual to strive for their best, even when life presents significant challenges. Debbie's role is to create a nurturing and supportive environment where clients can feel safe to explore their thoughts and emotions. She helps clients build on their strengths and resources, fostering a space where they can truly flourish.
As an Approved EMDR Consultant, Debbie provides consultation to psychologists, social workers, and certified counsellors aiming to enhance their EMDR practice. Committed to her own professional growth, Debbie actively engages in ongoing training, supervision, and collaboration to continually refine her skills. Beyond her private practice, Debbie serves as the Director of Counselling at Saffron Centre in Sherwood Park and a Coordinator for the Alberta Psychologists Competence Cooperative. Nicole Bratton
Registered Psychologist and EMDR Facilitator

Nicole is a Registered Psychologist in Edmonton, Alberta working in private practice with adults primarily using Eye -Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy. She is a Clinical Supervisor to individuals completing their Registration process as Psychologists. She is an approved EMDR consultant and provides consultation to social workers, psychologists, and certified counsellors seeking to improve their EMDR practice.
Nicole holds a BA in psychology from the University of British Columbia, and a MA in counselling psychology from City University.
Nicole is passionate about her work. Her ability to assist clients in healing and creating change is supported by her involvement in ongoing training and consultation and her genuine respect and compassion for the courage it takes to engage in therapy.

Maddalena Genovese
EMDRIA-Approved Consultant-in-Training and EMDR Facilitator
Registered Psychologist, MEd (Counselling Psychology)
Maddalena is a compassionate psychologist dedicated to empowering her clients through a warm, non-pathologizing approach. Specializing in stress and trauma-related disorders, she uses evidence-based treatments to foster lasting recovery. Known for her open-minded and collaborative style, she creates a safe space for all, including sexual and gender minority individuals and those affected by trauma, military life, and abuse.

Olivia Billsten
Special Projects Coordinator
M.Ed (Counselling Psychology)
Olivia holds a Master's degree in Educational Psychology (Counselling Psychology) from the University of Alberta and is currently a PhD student in the Department of Educational Psychology. With a strong foundation in both academic and practical aspects of psychology, the focus of her studies is trauma-informed care and post-traumatic growth.
Under the guidance of Dr. Judy Moench, Olivia assisted in the development of professional learning programs for teachers, focusing on self-regulation and trauma responses. Additionally, she has assisted in creating EMDR and trauma-focused speaking engagements, trainings, and online workshops, demonstrating her commitment to advancing trauma-informed practices.
Olivia co-authored a randomized control study published in the Journal of EMDR Practice and Research, showcasing a newly developed EMDR protocol. She also contributed to the EMDR International Association's "Go With That" magazine with an article on the Self-Care Traumatic Episode Protocol (STEP). Her ongoing research continues to explore and expand upon these innovative approaches to trauma care.

Chantilly is a certified assisted and visiting therapy dog who brings warmth and comfort to our practice. Assisting Dr. Judy in her sessions, Chantilly provides a calm presence that helps clients relax and feel at ease. Her gentle nature and soothing demeanour make her an invaluable member of our team, enhancing the therapeutic environment and supporting clients on their journey to well-being.

Yukon
Certified Facility Support Dog
Yukon is a certified Lion's Foundation of Canada Facility Support Dog whose primary role is to support clients at Saffron Centre during court testimonies, police statements, and therapy sessions. When not engaged in these important duties, Yukon assists Debbie at A Space to Flourish Psychology, bringing warmth and comfort to everyone she meets. During therapy sessions, you’ll often find her curled up on the couch next to her client, offering a calming presence that enhances the therapeutic experience. When she’s not supporting clients, Yukon enjoys 30-second zoomies, snacking on tasty treats and taking cozy naps—often on her back, fully relaxed. Her playful and loving demeanour makes her an integral part of our team, providing emotional support and making every session just a little bit brighter.
